VICTORY – COVID Contract Tracing Litigation

In partnership with the Kansas Justice Institute, the firm filed Taylor v. Allen against Linn County on unreasonable search and seizure practices which required all businesses in the county to maintain a list of patrons, who they were with, and how long they were at the business for contract tracing purposes. This information was to be available on-demand to the Local Health Officer or an employee upon demand.

After a hearing in this case, Linn County abandoned its practice. In addition, Kansas adopted contract tracing privacy protections by statute with this case as the primary impetus.
